What 32. rally Košice will be like?

32. year of Rally Košice will be held during 20th – 22nd October 2006. It will be the next to the last event of the serial of Middle Europe Zone – FIA CEZ Trophy 2006 and the last event of this year Slovak Championship in rally 2006. As already released, the competition will be counted to the Slovak Championship as a double race. This means that every stage will be individual competition. The first, under the name of Rally Košice 1 (21.10.2006) with coefficient 2 and the second, under the name Rally Košice 2 (22.10.2006) with coefficient 1. The results that Slovak representatives achieved during both days will be counted to the Cup of the Slovak Republic. Organizer announced the cup contest on this event – the Cup of Rally Košice, which is very untraditional. The contest is destined for the competitors, from abroad too, to which FIA homologation of racing cars already ended but the cars are meeting adequate national technical and safety regulation. 

Organizers from Auto Club Košice wanted to concentrate whole competition to one place from the begining. After the last year good cooperation with the company Tempus, the center of this year rally is in the area of Tempus Autoland in Rastislavová street 110 Košice. On this address will be the headquarters of the rally, the same as it was last year. This year here will be also closed parking space of the race cars, service parking and even start and finish. This way all participants – competitors, organizers and spectator will find everything in one place and three days this part of Košice will be changed into rally zone.

Organizers prepared the route for the competing crews with total length of 522,7 kilometers. On this route the drivers during two days will complete 13 SS (7 on Saturday, 6 on Sunday) in total length of 150,10 kilometers. In the first day the competitors will head for the south of the town where there is the speed stage Slanec and after they complete it, they will move to the east where are traditional SS Herľany and Zamutov. The second day the crews will head for the north. In the north part of the town they complete circuit SS close to the recreation resort Anička at the beginning and then will follow SS Bankov and Ružín.

The first competitor will start arriving to Košice on Wednesday evening when the registration of the competitors is planned and itinerar issued. On Thursday´s and Friday´s mornings the crews will complete the inspection of the SS route. Administrative and technical take-over will start on Friday at noon. When it´s finished at 4 pm the programme at the stage will start and at 6 pm will be the competition opening ceremony. The ceremony will be connected with the introduction of the crews. The finish of the competition is planned for Sunday. The arrival of the first crews to the finish line is expected at 2 pm. At the finish line the winners of each individual category will be rewarded with the cups.
